BYD Servicing Perth
Your independent BYD mechanic in Midvale, Perth
With the new Sealion models and Shark 6 utes arriving on worksites and driveways all over Perth, BYD has rapidly become mainstream, and many of those cars live out east in the suburbs we service.
But after-sales servicing hasn’t kept up with the supply. The BYD service centres at Osborne Park, Cannington and Wangara can be booked out weeks in advance, and plenty of owners tell us how hard it is to get someone on the phone.
We can help with all of your BYD’s servicing at our independent workshop in Midvale on Artello Bay Road.
We have fully qualified technicians with high-voltage training and the correct EV diagnostic equipment, and we service BYD cars according to the logbook service schedule with quality parts, maintaining accurate service records to keep your new car warranty protected when servicing outside the dealership network.
This isn’t a grey area or a workaround. It’s protected under Australian Consumer Law and under the Motor Vehicle Service and Repair Information Sharing Scheme, which gives independent workshops like ours access to the same servicing information BYD gives its own dealers. What actually protects your warranty is using the correct parts, following BYD’s logbook schedule, and having your service properly recorded. That’s exactly how we work.
A few words from Chris
Hi, I’m Chris Notte, the owner of Autoplus WA, a family business that has been servicing all makes and models since day one.
We service BYD vehicles across the range: Atto 3, Dolphin, Seal, Sealion 5/6/7/8, Shark 6 and Atto 1/2.
Our team trains regularly on EV and hybrid technology and we run the diagnostic tools needed to work on them properly. You get a family workshop that knows your name, instead of a dealership booking system.
Below are the promises we make to all our clients who book a service for their BYD:
β Trained for the technology. Your car will be serviced by a highly trained tech for high-voltage vehicles, and we have the correct diagnostic equipment for hybrid and electric vehicles.
β Warranty protected. All work is done in accordance with BYD’s scheduled servicing, logbooks are updated with the correct services, and quality parts are used to ensure your warranty remains valid.
β No surprises. Any additional work required will be explained in detail, costed, and only carried out with your approval.
β Honest advice. We will advise if something can wait for the next service and schedule it for then.
β Life admin, handled. We offer a loan car (subject to availability), key drop and after-hours pickup on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm.
β Confidence when you drive out. Work carried out at Autoplus WA comes with a lifetime workmanship warranty and 6 months of free roadside assistance.
We accept EFTPOS, cash and Afterpay. Book online today for a quality service.
What we won’t do
We’re upfront about this.
Warranty repair work on your BYD’s traction battery or drive unit needs to go through BYD directly, because that’s where the manufacturer’s cover sits.
If your car ever needs that kind of work, we’ll tell you plainly and point you the right way. We’d rather be honest about where the line sits than tell you what you want to hear.
What’s included in a BYD logbook service
The logbook service for your BYD is completed in accordance with BYD’s service schedule for your model and its current kilometre reading. Below is a general guide to the work completed during a scheduled service:
High-voltage battery and charging check
We check the whole high-voltage battery and charging system for signs of damage or wear, across the housing, mounts, cabling and electrical connections. It’s the most expensive component in your car, and we want it well looked after.
Brakes and regenerative braking
The regenerative braking in your BYD is kind to pads and discs, but calipers can seize up if they are not used from time to time. We check all of the brake components and replace the brake fluid at the scheduled interval.
Tyres, pressures and rotation
BYD batteries are heavy, and the instant torque puts real stress on tyres. We check tread depth, look for uneven wear, set pressures to the recommended level and rotate the tyres as your schedule requires.
Diagnostic scan and software check
We use EV-compatible diagnostic equipment to scan for fault codes and check the status of the car’s systems, including its software version. Some updates can only be completed through BYD’s network, and we’ll tell you if yours needs one.
Battery and drive unit cooling
The battery and drive unit have their own cooling circuits. We check hoses and connections for any signs of leaks or deterioration, check the coolant condition, and replace coolant when your schedule requires it.
Cabin filter, fluids and safety checks
We check and replace the cabin filter as required, along with other fluids, plus safety items such as lights, wipers, steering and suspension. A road test at the end of the service tests all aspects of the car.
BYD models we service in Perth
We service all BYD models from our Midvale workshop: Atto 3, Dolphin, Seal, Sealion 6 and 7, and Shark 6. EV intervals are typically every 20,000 km or 12 months, and we confirm what’s due at the time of booking.

What you can expect on the day
The service day process for a BYD logbook service at our Artello Bay Road workshop is outlined below.
1. Arrival
The car can be dropped off before hours, with the keys placed in the after-hours key box out the front of the premises. A text message is sent as soon as the vehicle has been logged into our workshop system.
2. The counter chat
Any issues with the vehicle, such as unusual noises, a faulty screen or slow charging, are noted at the counter and recorded on the job card along with the quoted work for the logbook service.
3. Diagnostic scan
The scan is completed using EV-compatible equipment to read any fault codes stored by the vehicle, as well as providing the status of the battery and charging system.
4. The logbook service
All work required by BYD for the scheduled service is carried out, including the high-voltage component checks.
5. Any additional work
Anything extra is photographed and fully explained, including the cost, before any work is completed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will servicing my BYD outside the dealership void my warranty?
No, there’s no legislation that restricts servicing a new car outside of a dealership’s workshop, as long as the work is completed in strict compliance with the manufacturer’s specifications, using quality components, and logged in line with the manufacturer’s logbook servicing requirements. That is exactly how all BYD logbook services at Autoplus WA are completed. Manufacturer recalls and warranty repairs are carried out through BYD’s official network, and we will advise you if any such work is required for your vehicle.
How often does a BYD need to be serviced?
For BYD’s pure electric vehicles, like the Dolphin and the Seal, scheduled servicing is required every 20,000 km or 12 months, whichever comes first. For the Super Hybrid models such as the Shark 6 and Sealion 6, some components are scheduled around 10,000 km of engine running, while items such as brake fluid, the cabin air filter and coolant come in at the larger service intervals.
How much does a BYD service cost at Autoplus WA?
It depends on your model and which service interval you’re due for. Call us or book online and we’ll confirm pricing before anything is booked in.
Do electric cars like BYDs really need servicing?
An electric car has no engine oil to change the way petrol and diesel cars do. However, plenty of other components require scheduled servicing, including tyres, brakes, suspension and cooling systems, and the software that controls the vehicle needs checking from time to time. Failure to complete scheduled services may affect the long-term health of the battery, and it may also affect your warranty.
Do you service the BYD Shark 6 and Sealion 6 hybrids?
Yes, we service the hybrid system and the petrol engine as one job, at one time, for the Shark 6 and Sealion 6 Super Hybrid models.
Which BYD models do you service?
We service all current BYD models distributed in Australia, including the Atto 3, Dolphin, Seal, Sealion 6, Sealion 7 and Shark 6, and we are able to service newer models as they arrive in Western Australia. Please phone us to confirm any model not listed.
Do you use genuine BYD parts?
We use genuine or OEM-quality parts that meet or exceed BYD’s specifications for the work we carry out. Battery and drive unit warranty work stays with BYD, as outlined above.
Will you complete my BYD's service records and logbook?
All scheduled service work for your BYD is recorded and kept for future reference by us, whether the car has a physical service book or a digital logbook. Repair work is recorded too, and an itemised copy of the invoice is provided, including the date and odo reading at the time of service, to assist with any future warranty claims and with resale down the track.
How long does a BYD logbook service take?
We aim to complete all logbook services on the same day where possible. If you drop your car off using the key box at the front of our workshop, we aim to have it ready to collect the same afternoon. For larger services we will advise how long the work should take and do our best to keep you updated.
What about my BYD's 8-year battery warranty?
BYD’s 8 year / 160,000 km warranty on the traction battery requires the vehicle to be serviced in accordance with BYD’s scheduled service program, with evidence kept of every completed service. We keep that evidence in order for you. If we find a battery issue during a service, we will document it and advise on how best to proceed with repairs through a BYD authorised repairer.
Can you also handle BYD repairs, tyres and brakes?
We repair tyres, brakes, suspension, air conditioning and auto electrical faults at our Midvale workshop, and we can quote and fix any defective items found during your scheduled service, keeping your BYD running safely.
Can I pay later?
We accept EFTPOS, cash and Afterpay, so you can pay for your service over time if that helps.
