4WD Repairs & Maintenance You Can Rely On
4WD vehicles are complex machines with a number of important parts — they require skilled and experienced technicians to service, repair, and maintain the essential components. Autoplus WA are seasoned experts in 4WD vehicle repairs, car servicing, and maintenance, and have been repairing 4WDs for over 25 years.
Suspension Repairs
4WD suspension systems take a real beating off-road. Whether you’ve noticed a sag in the rear, uneven tyre wear, poor handling after towing, or excessive body roll, our team can diagnose and repair suspension issues fast. We service all major systems, including coil springs, leaf springs, shock absorbers, sway bars, and bushings. For lifted vehicles or upgraded setups, we check geometry and alignment as part of the process to keep you in control on any terrain.
Transmission & Driveline
From manual gearboxes to automatic transmissions and transfer cases, we service the full driveline — including differentials and locking mechanisms. If your 4WD shudders, clunks, or struggles to shift properly, don’t ignore it. Early servicing can prevent major rebuilds down the track and ensures peak performance when traction matters most.
Fuel Lines & Filters
Remote travel and unsealed roads expose your vehicle’s fuel system to dust, water, and contaminants. Blocked filters can lead to poor performance or injector damage. We inspect, clean, flush, and replace fuel filters where needed to protect your engine. We also recommend preventative fuel system servicing before and after big trips.
Brake System Inspections
Heavy 4WDs need powerful, well-maintained brakes — especially when towing, loaded up, or navigating rough descents. At Autoplus WA, we don’t rely on guesswork — we combine traditional brake inspections with advanced diagnostic tools like our Safe-T-Stop testing platform, giving you the clearest picture of your braking performance.
We inspect your entire braking system — including pads, rotors, calipers, fluid condition, and brake lines — but what sets us apart is the technology behind the check.
What the Safe-T-Stop Machine Adds:
Our Safe-T-Stop system checks braking performance under real-world conditions — not just in the workshop. It measures:
- Left-to-right brake balance (which can’t be picked up visually)
- Front-to-rear brake ratio
- Brake drag or pulling
- Suspension and alignment pull
- Stop distance and response time
This technology detects problems that even experienced mechanics can’t see without road testing — including hidden brake imbalances, steering drift caused by suspension issues, or one side braking harder than the other. All of these can affect towing safety, tyre wear, and vehicle control — especially in emergency stops.
Around 10–20% of vehicles we test have brake issues their owners didn’t realise — the Safe-T-Stop makes sure you don’t become one of them.
It only takes minutes, comes standard with every logbook service, and gives you a printed safety report you can keep.
Wheel Alignments
Misaligned wheels after a rough trip can lead to uneven tyre wear, pulling to one side, or poor steering response. We offer specialist 4WD wheel alignments — especially important for lifted vehicles or those running all-terrain or mud tyres. Regular alignment checks are key to tyre life and driving comfort.
Engine Tune-Ups
Regular tune-ups help keep your 4WD reliable, fuel-efficient, and ready for anything. We inspect spark plugs, filters, ignition systems, fuel delivery, and ECU codes to make sure everything is running at peak. Diesel or petrol, our goal is long-term performance and preventing costly breakdowns.
Quality Control, Diagnostics & Road Testing
At Autoplus WA, we don’t just clear codes — we dig deeper.
Our diagnostic tools and real-world road testing allow us to find the root cause of issues, not just mask the symptoms. Every major repair includes a road test before and after work is completed.
Our quality control checks ensure everything meets our high standards before your keys are handed back.
Warranty Safe Servicing
We follow all manufacturer specifications for logbook servicing.
That means using the correct oils, fluids, and high-quality parts that meet or exceed manufacturer standards — protecting your warranty and your vehicle’s long-term performance. Whether your 4WD is brand new or has clocked up the kms, you’ll get top-level care with no shortcuts.
Performance & Preventative Add-Ons
Catch Cans
A quality catch can reduces carbon and oil build-up inside your intake system — a common issue in modern turbo diesels with EGR systems. By filtering blow-by gases before they re-enter the intake, catch cans help extend engine life, improve efficiency, and reduce the need for costly intake cleans. Ideal for drivers who tow, off-road, or want long-term protection.
Pre-Fuel Filters
A pre-fuel filter provides a first line of defence against dirt or water in low-quality fuel. Especially useful for long-range touring or regional travel, these filters catch contaminants before they reach your main filter or injectors. We supply and install trusted brands suitable for most diesel 4WDs.

Frequently Asked Questions
How often should you service your 4WD?
Most 4WDs benefit from servicing every 10,000–15,000 km or every 6–12 months, depending on usage. Off-road driving, towing, and diesel engines can require more frequent checks. We tailor your service based on your vehicle, service history, and how you use it.
How much does a 4WD service cost?
We don’t offer one-size-fits-all pricing — every vehicle is different. Our services are tailored based on your make, model, and what’s due. We always prioritise quality and use parts that meet or exceed manufacturer standards.
Do you use genuine parts?
Yes — we use a mix of genuine and high-quality aftermarket parts, depending on availability and customer preference. Everything we use meets or exceeds the manufacturer’s specifications to protect your vehicle’s reliability and warranty.
How long does a 4WD service take?
Most services are completed the same day. If additional work is required, we’ll communicate clearly and offer a free loan car on request (subject to availability).
Do you service modified or lifted 4WDs?
Absolutely. We regularly work on 4WDs with lift kits, aftermarket suspension, snorkels, and touring setups. We’ll adapt your service to suit your build and driving style.
