Minor Car Service Perth (Basic Service)

A minor service doesn’t have to be a minor headache

Our minor (basic) service (often referred to as an ‘essential service’, ‘basic service’, or ‘general service’ in the industry) is the easy, value-packed and affordable option for regular car maintenance between major or logbook intervals. A minor service generally includes a comprehensive vehicle inspection and diagnostic checks, as well as engine oil and filter replacement.

As a family-owned workshop with 20+ years in the community, we service all makes and models with care you can feel and workmanship we guarantee for life. Most cars benefit from a minor or basic service every 6–12 months or around 10,000 km.

If your vehicle is still under factory warranty, we’ll map your minor/basic service to the manufacturer logbook schedule to protect coverage.

A few words from Chris…

Hi, I’m Chris Notte, owner & operator of Autoplus WA.

Thanks for considering us. Here’s how we look after you and your car, and what makes our workshop a little different.

I’m a big believer in doing the simple things properly.

We use the right oils and quality parts, follow the manufacturer’s specs, and keep you in the loop the whole way. My team trains regularly to stay current, and every car gets the same care we’d give our own family vehicles. We are committed to customer satisfaction and always put our customers first, ensuring you receive the care and attention you deserve.

If something unexpected pops up, we’ll call first, explain it in plain English and give you clear options and pricing. We are always happy to discuss service options and any additional repairs with our customers to make sure you’re comfortable with every decision. No pressure, no surprises.

My promise to you

  • We’ll advise you on the best path for your car – minor/basic service or logbook – so your warranty stays safe when it needs to.
  • No surprises. We only proceed with extra work after we’ve explained the options and price, and you’ve approved the quote.
  • Quality in, quality out. Genuine or OEM-quality parts and the correct specification oils and fluids.
  • Real safety checks. We can provide Safe-T-Stop testing for braking, suspension and alignment insight.
  • Convenience for busy families. Loan car on request (subject to availability), key drop/after-hours pickup, and Tue–Fri, 7:30 am–5:30 pm hours.
  • Clear take-home report. You’ll receive a photo-supported service report for your records and resale.

Major vs Minor service – what’s right for you?

Minor Service (your regular keep-me-reliable visit).

Ideal for most family cars every 12 months or around 10,000-15,000 km, depending on use. The recommended time frame for minor car services is whichever comes first: the specified mileage or the elapsed time, as per your manufacturer’s guidelines.

It covers the essential fluids, filters and safety checks that keep everything running smoothly and flag issues early. Regular car service helps identify issues before they become costly repairs. You can avoid big problems later on by starting with a complete checklist that covers every part of your car. If you do not get your car serviced on time, it could cause problems and cost you a lot of money later.

We make the checklist fit your car’s logbook and the way you drive.

Major Service (the milestone deep-dive).

Scheduled less often, typically every 2-3 years or at your manufacturer’s major intervals, this includes everything in a Minor Service plus a deeper set of inspections and fluid/component replacements that aren’t needed annually.

To keep your car running at its best, you should get a major service every 30,000 to 45,000 kilometres, or about every three years. A major car service also includes a full brake inspection and a high-tech electronic tune-up to make sure your car is in great shape.

Qualified mechanics and professionals do all inspections and replacements, which guarantees that all auto repairs and maintenance are done to a high standard. Our skilled auto team can do a lot of different things, from simple checks to complicated repairs, using the latest tools and their extensive experience.

Relax, knowing that your car is in good hands.

Not sure which you’re due for? Text or email a photo of your logbook page or current odometer and we’ll confirm the right service with a clear quote before we start.

A quick note on terms: some people say “full service” for the larger visit. In our schedule, that typically lines up with the 2-year service. If you’re unsure, we’ll map the right option to your car and budget.

Minor Service Overview

Regularly getting your car serviced is essential to maintain its performance, ensure road safety, prevent costly repairs, and protect its resale value. Failing to service your vehicle annually may lead to expensive repairs down the line.

Every car (and family) is different, so we tailor the service to your vehicle’s age, use and logbook history. Here is what is included in a typical minor/basic service:

AreaWhat we do or check
Engine oil and filterDrain and replacement of engine oil with the correct grade; replacement of oil filter
FluidsCheck and top up coolant, brake fluid, power steering and washer fluid as required
Battery and electricsBattery and charging system check; lights and electrics check
TyresSet pressures; inspect tyre wear and tread depth; rotate if appropriate
BrakesInspect pads, rotors or drums, hoses and leaks; Safe-T-Stop condition testing available
Steering and suspensionVisual check of bushes, joints, shocks and struts
FiltersInspect air filter and cabin filter; replacement if due (requires approval)
Under-body and leaksInspect under-body and fluids for leaks
DiagnosticsOBD scan and service light reset where applicable
Quality assuranceRoad test and follow-up report with photos and recommendations

These checks and maintenance tasks help keep your car running smoothly and reliably. Minor services also include vehicle greasing.

During diagnostics and inspections, we look for any signs or symptoms of car problems, such as warning lights, unusual sounds, or leaks, to address issues before they become serious. New oil and cleaned air filters result in a smoother running engine and better fuel efficiency.

We use genuine or OEM-quality parts and our fully qualified team completes the work to industry standards, so you leave with confidence and a clear plan for what’s next.

  3. Thorough service, safety first –Your tech completes the scheduled work plus a comprehensive safety check; where relevant we’ll run a Safe-T-Stop test and include the condition report. Our mechanics take great care to ensure your vehicle receives attentive, personalised service.

  5. Clear handover – When you collect the car, we’ll step you through the printed report (with photos), stamp your logbook where applicable, and recommend the next service interval.
  6. Drive-away confidence – Your service is backed by our lifetime workmanship warranty, and we can provide roadside assistance support options with your service. You can rest assured your vehicle is in safe hands.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between a minor/basic service and a logbook service?

A minor/basic service covers the essentials to keep your car safe and running well between major intervals – think oil/filter, inspections, fluids and a road test. A logbook service follows the manufacturer’s exact schedule (items, timings and fluids) to protect your new-car warranty. We do both and will advise which suits your situation.

Will an Autoplus service keep my warranty intact?

Yes, we follow the manufacturer’s requirements and use quality OEM parts, an independent workshop like ours can service your vehicle without voiding your statutory warranty. If you’re under warranty we’ll recommend a logbook service; if you’re out of warranty, a minor/basic service may be perfect.

How long does a minor/basic service take?

Most are completed the same day during our Tue–Fri, 7:30 am–5:30 pm schedule. Ask when booking and we’ll give you a timeframe based on your car and any extra requests. After-hours key pickup is available if it suits you better.

Do you use quality oils and parts?

Absolutely. We use genuine or OEM-quality parts and the correct specification oils and fluids for your vehicle – better for performance and long-term value, and backed by our lifetime workmanship warranties.

Can you work on EVs and hybrids?

Yes. Our team services battery-electric and hybrid vehicles alongside petrol and diesel, and we keep our training current to do it right.

Is there a loan car?

Yes – loan cars are available on request when booked in advance (subject to availability).

Do you use genuine parts?

We use genuine or OEM quality parts that meet or exceed manufacturer specifications.

Do you service all makes and models?

Yes, we service all major car brands and models, petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric.
